Christina Merkley’s
THE GRAPHIC BOOTCAMP

Now you don’t have to wait to take your
Graphic Recording and Graphic Facilitation skills to the next level -
shatter your barriers AND learn smart, proven
business strategies tailor-made for visual practices!

From: Christina Merkley

Dear Fellow Visual Practitioner:

In love with the Graphics way of working... but not quite confident enough to make a real go of it?

It takes a lot of gumption to publicly stand up at a wall and visually work with a group...

...and, unfortunately...

...safe places to practice our craft, have, until now... been practically non-existent.

Christina Merkley,
Meeting Graphics Educator
Extraordinaire

I know from my own 12+ years experience just how lonely and frustrating it can be to learn this stuff on your own!  Not just getting good enough at the skills and having enough confidence to really use them --- but also the whole business side of this unique way of working too.

So, because of that...

...and because of the constant pressure applied from my past Meeting Graphics 101 attendees for “more-Christina-more”...

I’ve added a SECOND LAYER of training and mentoring to further pave your way...

UNLEASH YOUR INNER DOODLER IN THIS TWO DAY ADVANCED GRAPHIC RECORDING AND GRAPHIC FACILITATION TRAINING!

If you don’t yet know what Graphic Recording and Graphic Facilitation are ---

---- then do yourself a favor and back up and read the page about Meeting Graphics 101, my beginning skills workshop.

For plenty of explanation and starter details: click here

However, for those who are about to attend Meeting Graphics 101 (or have done so in the past)...

...this additional power-packed advanced training is for you – so read on!

Christina’s Agenda Kick-Off

Demos, Drills and
Plenty o’ Wall Work.

As you know...

‘GRAPHICS’ GIVES YOU A HUGE ADVANTAGE as a consulting, facilitation, or training professional …

...given just how rare professionals with these highly effective skills are...

...and how TRULY STUPENDOUSLY BIG the visual thinking market is...

It behooves you to always remember:

87% OF THE GENERAL POPULATION ARE VISUAL LEARNERS – AND MOST GROUP PROCESSES TOTALLY NEGLECT AND EVEN WORK AGAINST PARTICIPANTS NATURAL LEARNING STYLES

… which translates into a HUGE OPPORTUNITY for YOU!

But in order to capitalize on that opportunity ---- you need to get comfy with your new skills and you need to have a plan about how to integrate graphics effectively into your OWN work

Advanced Doodling, Drawing and Icon Drills.

And that is what my Graphic Bootcamp is all about!

It amps your skills and confidence up a whole other wattage level … so you effectively integrate your new skills and learn how to strategically weave them into your life and work

Here’s more on The Graphic Bootcamp … including the outcomes you can expect as a result of this training (which by the way, is scheduled right after Meeting Graphics 101 for those who want to get as much bang for their travel buck as possible!)

TRAINING OUTCOMES:

As you go through the two days of this additional, higher level training …

  • Imagine taking your base skills up a whole other level, as you practice, practice, practice until the cows home (so much so that you stop thinking and start instinctively doing!);
  • Imagine seeing your own style and strengths emerge – work you are proud of and gives you the feeling of your success waiting right around the corner;

  • Imagine doing all sorts of drills with your fun, supportive and clever team mates --- working from information and data from real client scenarios (memories that you’ll take with you into your own world);
  • Imagine being startled but pleasantly pleased by the frank money and sales conversations, getting an insiders look at the behind-the-scenes business mechanics (refreshingly honest discussions about things that normally don’t talked about!);
  • Imagine your pleasure, immediately after the event, as you develop or enhance your own portfolio and start to attract enjoyable practice and work opportunities from surprising places (possibilities just jumping out of the woodwork).

“IN 3 SHORT MONTHS I HAVE ‘WOWED’ REPEAT AND NEW CLIENTS … AM NOW EAGER TO DELVE IN RATHER THAN FEARFUL –-- THANKS CHRISTINA!”

"I have been working as a partner in a graphic facilitation team since 2000, but I have never felt confident enough in my drawing skills to 'go it alone'. Christina's Graphic Bootcamp was just what I needed! Meaningful, hands-on activities, great tips and tons of genuine and personable coaching from Christina made this workshop the catalyst I needed. In just 3 short months since taking Graphics Bootcamp, I have impressed and 'wowed' repeat and new clients with my visual summaries of client teleconference meetings, project summary murals and I recently mentored graphic recording of a large health conference in Toronto! This summer I have several graphic projects on the board and am now eager to delve in rather than fearful of whether or not I can do it. Thanks Christina, for helping me to realize my dreams! I highly recommend your workshop!"

Laurie Benn, Visual Practitioner,
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, www.positiveculture.ca

Here’s more of the nitty gritty of what you can expect to takeaway …

Whew! … as you can see A LOT is accomplished over the course of two-days. This training is an amazing value and makes the most of your
precious time and travel investment!

Here’s what more Graphic Bootcamp Attendees have to say …

"I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE FOUND A FABULOUS MENTOR ... SOMEONE WHO WORKS FROM SUCH A DEEP SPIRITUAL PLACE OF KNOWING THAT THE UNIVERSE PROVIDES."

“I recently attended two of Christina's graphics workshops—the 101 and the Bootcamp. Both were great experiences, I learned so much in the action-packed four days from both Christina and the other participants. In the two follow-up consultations, Christina has helped me focus my vision as a practicing graphic facilitator / recorder and take practical steps toward building an identity and brand around my special niche. She has guided me toward a place of confidence and ability. I am so glad to have found a fabulous mentor in my field, and also someone who works from such a deep spiritual place of knowing that the universe provides.”.

Julie Stuart, Graphic Recorder,
Making Ideas Visible, Atlanta, Georgia

“EVERY MOMENT AND ACTIVITY ADDED TO AN OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL LEARNING INVESTMENT FOR ME”.

“Excellent learning experience with an organized, supportive, creative and generous facilitator! Every moment and activity added to an outstanding professional learning investment for me”.

Cheryl King, Consultant & Trainer, Grande Prairie, AB, www.greenleafconsulting.ca

… with your experiences from The Graphic Bootcamp you’ll experience all this plus more!

“THE RATIO OF ‘THEORY TRANSFER’ TO PRACTICAL APPLICATION AND HANDS ON TRIAL WAS PERFECT!”

“For facilitators who are looking to shake it up, take it up a notch and expand their skill sets … this is the course. And for those of you who feel constrained by flip chart paper and single color pen use – break loose. The ratio of ‘theory transfer’ to practical application / hands on trial was PERFECT! Wonderful to witness another professional’s expertise (Christina’s a wonderful facilitator)”.

And here’s a bit about me, Christina Merkley, your trainer …

ABOUT YOUR TRAINER: CHRISTINA MERKLEY, M.A.
Graphic Facilitator, Coach & Visual Thinking Expert

Christina Merkley, M.A.

So what’s my story and how did I come to so thoroughly know my graphic stuff!? …

Well, for the full story, go back to the Meeting Graphics 101 description … I share my whole weird and wonderful journey in detail there.

The gist of it is …

I absolutely love teaching (My Dad used to run a training company … so I soaked up a lot by osmosis I guess!) … but while his specialty was financial management … mine is Meeting Graphics!

My trainings are a culmination of over 12+ years in the Graphic Recording and Graphic Facilitation industry --- working for a who’s who of clients and companies.

I’ve built a steady, successful practice, first as a Graphic Recorder … then as a Graphic Facilitator --- where I not only did the graphics but lead facilitated the meeting at the same time (mostly strategic planning and visioning forums from 12-100 attendees).

Even moving that business from one country to another – so I know a thing or two about marketing, sales and re-invention!

My latest caper is a whole other branch to my work (graphic coaching), which I broke off into its own separate company in 2006 --- SHIFT-IT Coach, Inc (you are on its website) … which is taking more and more of my attention, energy and time.

deep coaching with individuals, business partners and couples ….

… all in a visual way of course and with a big emphasis on Law of Attraction (something I’ve aligned with that has HUGELY supported my own success … but I’ll have to save discussion on LOA for another time!).

Which leads into why I …

… invite you to come to my little school
for graphic recorders and graphic facilitators (and other types of visual practitioners and connoisseurs) here in charming,
Victoria, British Columbia …

NOW

… while you still can …

Its because of SHIFT-IT Coach, Inc (or more precisely its success) that I’m doing Meeting Graphics and Graphic Bootcamp Trainings at all right now … but only for a limited time in the short-term future.

Christina working graphically with coaching clients using SHIFT-IT Tools.

You see, SHIFT-IT Coach, Inc. is really taking off …

… especially with the development of The SHIFT-IT Graphic Coaching Process® and its 17 visual mapping tools … and the private coaching and tele-groups I lead with them.

So much so, that very soon, my focus will be exclusively on SHIFT-IT Coach, Inc and no longer on group facilitation or even Meeting Graphics training!

Sooooooo, you’ll want to get in on The Graphic Bootcamp (and Meeting Graphics 101 if you haven’t already) while you still can –--

Your time to act is now... this will be the last time I EVER offer this extremely popular live workshop, so get in while you still can!

“ITS AMAZING HOW PEOPLE RESPOND – THEY JUST LOVE IT!”

“Right after attending Meeting Graphics 101 and The Graphic Bootcamp I went into several client engagements where I used my new graphic skills. Its amazing how people respond – they just love it! A colleague couldn’t believe what I was able to do (you did that?!). Visuals work very well with the community projects I engage in – especially for those who don’t have the greatest literacy or for the hard of hearing. And this new way of working adds personal interest and challenge for me – skills I can continue to refine and challenge myself with for years to come.”

Louise Griep, Strategic Planning Facilitator,
Calgary, Alberta, Canada

And all of this ties into why ...

I AM KNOWN FOR MY SUPPORTIVE AND VERY, VERY GENEROUS STYLE …

Because, unlike some other graphic recorders and graphic facilitators out there who have just recently got into the training game …

… I do not hold anything back …

… because I am not in expansion or maintenance mode myself any longer with the Graphic Recording and Graphic Facilitation arms of my business,

…  so I have no contradictory self interests in keeping the real trade secrets, contacts, resources or any of the other really, really good stuff to myself and hidden from you.

--- in fact, I’m referring out 95% of the recording and facilitation work that crosses my desk --- to old colleagues and skilled newcomers in my Preferred Partners Network … kind of like a liquidation sale if you will.  Only keeping a few old clients that I want to gracefully close out with.

“HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ADDED GRAPHICS TO MY WORK AS A SPEAKER, FACILITATOR & VIDEOGRAPHER … and AM DOING GIGS AS A GRAPHIC RECORDER TOO!”

“One of the best trainings I have ever taken! Real world applications, genuine information and a comfortable learning lab – I recommend MEETING GRAPHICS 101 and THE GRAPHIC BOOTCAMP to anyone interested in making the world a better place. I’ve taken ALL of Christina’s offerings – including SHIFT-IT coaching. Have successfully added graphics to my work as a speaker, facilitator, and videographer … and am doing gigs as a Graphic Recorder too! The follow-up coaching after client engagements has been awesome – refines my learning and helps me apply lessons to my own business development. I’m totally stoked!”

Erik Hanson, Speaker/Facilitator, Extreme Kindness Crew,
Vancouver Island, B.C. www.extremekindness.com

“WILL ADD DEMONSTRABLE VALUE TO OUR CLIENTS”

“Christina is engaging, supportive and very skilled. This advanced workshop helped me ‘see’ the big picture! It will add demonstrable value to our clients”.

Alan Stephen, Calgary, Alberta,
Strategy Consultant www.standing-stones.com

--- so if you play your cards right, and develop your skills … I might even be able to refer good work your way from the many phone calls and emails I continue to receive (from around the world) from clients looking for good recording and facilitation help.

I SERIOUSLY want to get my hard-earned knowledge out of me and into the heads and hearts of the next wave of Visual Practitioners while I still have the bandwidth for it ..

… people who will take these skills and DO GOOD WORK with them!

… people who will carry them on in their own unique way!

.. people who are enthusiastic about Visual Thinking methods and want to incorporate these methods into their own work and life!

I know it might sound Pollyanna … but I’ve got a real knack for this stuff and I want to ‘pay it forward’--- so these visually ways of working with groups can live on through the creativity and ingenuity of others

hopefully YOU!

In trying to avoid another obscenely long page (you’ll know what I mean if you’ve browsed the Meeting Graphics 101 page) – I’ll cut to the chase and get to …

ANSWERS TO OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
ABOUT ATTENDING MEETING GRAPHICS 101

Q. Do You Want A Lot Of Attendees?

A. No, I intentionally cap my trainings to just 12 participants, as well as a few assistants and invited guests in the room.  This is to ensure plenty of individual attention and a nice cozy learning and sharing environment --- so you get lots of opportunities for direct interaction and feedback with me and plenty of time to share with all the other fabulous people in the room

Plus, the first night I extend a casual, optional dinner invitation, for those who want to continue mingling (just like I do at Meeting Graphics 101) …

– so we need to keep numbers low so we can all fit around a big round table

… also, all of my workshops … starting from my first little half day workshop over 6 years ago, to the multi-day ones I currently offeralways sell out.  Sometimes far in advance of the date. So given the low participant numbers be sure to register early to avoid disappointment!

SOLD OUT!

SOLD OUT! This last ever workshop has been sold out since July. Email us to be placed on waitlist, in case a spot opens up. Do you still want to get trained in graphic recording / graphic facilitation by the end of this year? If so, book Christina for a private training (1-3 people), held at her charming Victoria, B.C. studio. A few opportunities still available before Dec. 31st (at which time she is removing this training option forever ... due to the growth of her SHIFT-IT business). Get trained by one of the best trainers in the graphic recording/facilitation field while you still can - so her skills can live on thru you!

Q. Who Comes? What Are the Other Participants Like?

A. Same people who attend Meeting Graphics 101 – but they now are armed with the foundational skills that that training gives you.  Most come through immediately from that training, as they are offered back-to-back (not taking any break in-between as most travel a fair distance to get here, so want to make the most of their travel investment).  A few attendees are from previous Meeting Graphics trainings, who have opted to put a bit of time between level one and level two.  Occasionally there are folks who have not been through my Meeting Graphics 101 but they’ve proven to me that they have equivalent skills.

For the record, attendees come from lots of different kinds of professions: the obvious ones like facilitators, coaches, consultants, scribes and trainers. But also public speakers, architects, city planners, landscape designers, mediators, teachers & principals, college professors, story book animators, NLP practitioners, community activists, youth workers –even lawyers and accountants (cause they totally need to get things across to their client base in an easier way and graphics does the trick).

The really cool thing is where you and your fellow participants come from.  Most are North American … from across the United States and Canada.  However, Europeans are making the trek now too, with participants from Ireland, Netherlands and Great Britain. I think next round we might get a few from Australia, New Zealand and Japan by the sounds of it.  Having such great geographical diversity is nice as there is no sense of competition or territorialism --- just lots of connectedness and support (members of our global graphic tribe uniting).

Q. What If I Can’t Even Draw a Stick Man?

A. Well, you’ll need to take Meeting Graphics 101 in order to advance to The Graphic Bootcamp (and, lucky you, in that workshop I teach you how to draw a kick ass stick person … way better than you’d ever think possible!).  However, it bears repeating (again and again) ---  You DO NOT need to be an artist to do this work.  This course is called Meeting Graphics because there are many ways to apply graphics to meeting work … a whole graphic spectrum if you will.  On the far side are more illustrative applications that do require at least some artistic ability (that I can teach you) however on the other side are applications that require no or little drawing on your part – really!.  There really is a place for every artistic (or not artistic) temperament in the visual way of working!

Q. Where Is The Workshop Held and How Do I Get There?

A. Part of the allure of my workshops is they are all held in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada … in a great, central meeting space close to shops, restaurants, and hotels (and its got tons of wall space, which we of course need!).  Victoria is a great little city and full of world class amenities due to its focus on tourism …

For a quick look at Victoria, check out these classy photos taken in May ’07 by Graphic Bootcamp attendee Alan Stephen (he was thrilled to leave chilly Calgary to experience Victoria’s mild west coast) …

… cherry blossoms everywhere … and the Chinese Benevolent Association’s school building right next door …

… not to mention the mother-of-all-graphics in our First Nations totem poles and long houses (middle left) at top rate B.C. Royal Museum. And … our picturesque Parliament Buildings (middle right) lit up at night with thousands of tiny, yellow, light bulbs …

immediately upon registration you’ll receive the logistics for our meeting location – including travel options, driving directions (ferry is one way to get here, the other is air) and recommended accommodations (whatever your tastes, preferences and budget)

… and a ‘Things To Do’ Tip Sheet (in case you want to add a few additional days before or after to experience Victoria in even more depth).

In the meantime, here’s Info on Travel to Victoria, B.C. For a wealth of additional info visit Tourism Victoria’s website.

Q. When Is The Next Graphic Bootcamp? And If I Can’t Make That, When Is the Next One After That?

Nov. 7-8, 2008 - LAST EVER

A. Your time to act is now... this will be the last time I EVER offer this extremely popular live workshop, so get in while you still can!

SOLD OUT!

SOLD OUT! This last ever workshop has been sold out since July. Email us to be placed on waitlist, in case a spot opens up. Q: What If None of the Public Workshop Dates Work for My Schedule?

A. You can arrange your own private training with me. I offer one to three day formats (for 1-3 people). Agendas custom designed to meet your own unique needs and skill level. Trainings held in my charming Victoria, British Columbia studio. We just find a time that works for both our calendars. Or, bring me to you for an in-house workshop at your location (for 6-12 people).

Q. What If I Already Have Some Base Skills and Have Been Doing Graphic Recording or Graphic Facilitation For a While?

A. Most folks who already have some basic training still opt to do Meeting Graphics 101 right before this workshop (as so much of the Bootcamp is built on the specific theory and practical foundation set there).  However, if you are fine with potentially missing some helpful stuff and jumping into an already formed cohort of people – you can email me examples of your work and if I think you are a fit and there is space – I’ll happily bump you right into the Bootcamp.

Q. Just What Exactly Is Meeting Graphics 101? How Is It Different From The Graphics Bootcamp?

A. Meeting Graphics 101 is the introductory, level one training that I offer.  It is designed as a pre-requisite to The Graphics Bootcamp.

In it you learn all the beginner basics of this work, including the history of the field, the four main applications, foundational lettering and drawing skills --- as well as see demos and have your own crack at custom chart work, graphic recording and graphic facilitation.

Q.  SO WHAT’S THE COST OF ATTENDING?

A. When you take valuable skills training, like any opportunity you are considering, don’t look at what it costs … look at what it’s WORTH to you

The going day rate for Graphic Recorders and Graphic Facilitators is $500 on the low end and $2-3000+ on the mid-range (some high end consultants using visual methods charge upwards of $5000+/day!).  FYI, the cost for you to attend Meeting Graphics 101 and The Graphic Bootcamp (four full days) is less than what I charge for one day of my recording or facilitation services.  (see Christina’s fees).

Obviously, once you get your skills up, your investment in yourself can be recouped quickly, for some, in just a few days (even calculating in lower fees).  Or, if you’re internal, in the satisfaction of doing work in a whole new way that pleases you and your employer - and the savings of not having to use an external contractor or at least working more effectively with the ones you do still choose to bring in.

These workshops are an incredibly good deal given how you are being ‘taught to fish’ – a skill that can keep you feed, happy and personally satisfied for years to come (let alone all the great productivity and meeting results that will ripple and flow from you).

Your Investment Is:

MEETING GRAPHICS 101:    $995.00

THE GRAPHIC BOOTCAMP: $1195.00

TAKEN TOGETHER:  $1895.00 (save just shy of $300).

*** Fees in Canadian funds, GST additional

Q: Do I Have to Take These Two Courses Back to Back?

A. No. You could opt to take Meeting Graphics 101 first, then follow it up with The Graphics Bootcamp at another date. I purposely offer these workshops back to back because most people who attend often travel significant distances to come (and would prefer to get as much training as they can in one trip). If you happen to live in the area, or are ok with doing two trips, you can certainly split your workshop dates. However, you do run the risk of me no longer having The Graphics Bootcamp as an option, if you wait too long. As i am not sure how much longer I will be offering it. And, because of this, I unfortunately cannot extend the special dual rate to you if you do not opt to take them back-to-back.

Q: This Is My Own Investment – Is There a Way I Can Make Partial Payments to Ease My Cashflow Crunch?

A. Yes. I have invested extensively in my own training over the years and I certainly have compassion for the cashflow issues of solo-entrepreneurs and small business owners. So, to help make your training investment as easy as possible, I am offering several payment plans options. I’ll even let you continue/finish your payments beyond the actual workshop dates (trusting you to fulfill your commitment).

Several Easy Payment Plan Options Available:
Your choice of one full payment or divide your payment into 3, 5 or even 7 convenient micro-payments (first payment upon registration, then every 30 days for remainder of plan).

FYI: Payment plan options available on purchase of single workshop or on purchase of both workshops back-to-back.  Click Here for Information on Payment Plan Options
