My Furthest Visitor to Date

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of welcoming Yuko Matsumoto from Japan to my studio here in Victoria, British Columbia.  One of the benefits of having unique skills and being a teacher in such a rare field as graphic recording and graphic faciliation – is that I get to meet interesting people from all over the world.

Yuko arranged to have two days of private graphics training with me.  We’ve been communicating for months via email, so it was very exciting to finally have her arrive.  And she actually got some nice, sunny and brisk fall weather.  While I have had a woman come for private coaching with me from Korea, Yuko is the furthest visitor I have had to date for my specialized graphics training.

Below is Yuko’s ‘At the Crossroads’ map … a tool I create at the beginning of any of my trainings – to get a feel for what her desired outcomes are and her current crossroads issues.  We had pre-designed her agenda via email previously, however I like to do this map as soon as a trainee arrives so i understand their current thinking and emotions.  Yuko is a trainer who currently does business etiquette, presentation skills, coaching and personality assessment trainings.  She wanted to learn more about graphic recording and graphic faciliation and how she could integrate these skills into what she currently does and possibly move more into facilitation and consulting roles in the future.

Here is a nice shot of Yuko standing in front of some next steps that we defined for her (we’ll be continuing our alliance via tele-coaching calls – helping her to integrate her learnings and take a few risks to stretch her skills in the months ahead).  I must say that her business etiquette background and style put my more laid back casual attire to shame – and that I only had a big skim milk container to pour into her coffee – egads!  She was certainly a good sport about it all and we had some very fascinating discussions about cultural differences, women’s advancement potentials in our different countries, etc.

Thank you for coming Yuko. It was a pleasure meeting and working with you.  I look forward to supporting you in implementing your next steps.

If you are interested in your own private graphics training (tailor made training in the skills of graphic recording and graphic faciliation), I will be offering these trainings for at least one more year.  See: Info on Private Trainings.?
