Video Day with Erik

Had a fun day a few weeks ago.  I spent the whole day shooting some videos for a new product I’m working on.  The new product is a Home Study Course for Graphic Recording and Graphic Facilitation.

I get folks from all over the world traveling here to Victoria, British Columbia to attend my public and private skills training workshops.

I’m super lucky as these skills are very rare and there are only a few places in the world that you can currently get really good instruction in them … so people gladly travel  to me (which is a great luxury after all the traveling I have done myself in the last 14 years!).  And, it doesn’t hurt that I happen to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth!

However, there are plenty of folks who for various reasons can’t make the trek to me, but have been asking for some sort of virtual training program.  Soooo, to help meet that need … I have been converting my very extensive workshop training handbooks into a big ol’ integrated manual.  And creating audio and video tracks to go along with it.  A nice big home study package that gives you the meat of my knowledge in these rare skills.

This new product won’t replace the power of live training – nothing can really beat the magic and energy of the face-to-face experience. But this new Home Study version will give folks a new option that hasn’t been available before. An option that you can use to learn graphic recording and graphic facilitation skills from the comfort of your own home.

Here are a few shots of me and my videographer, Erik Hanson.  Erik is a blast to work with (with tons of experience in front of and behind the camera).  You might recognize him from his work as part of The Kindness Crew … excellent group of Canadian guys who have been promoting random acts of kindness through their tours and books.

I really love doing the videos.  Its going to add a whole new dimension to my products which I’m very excited about.  Many, many moons ago I used to do local community television (back in high school!).  At one time, I had dreams of being a broadcast journalist … but got a little side-tracked after a car accident right after university put those dreams on hold.

Doing this video brought memories of those times and dreams all flooding back.  Its ‘funny’ in life how things have a way of cycling around again.  Getting back in front of the camera has awakened some dormant energy that I’m really pleased about. Such fun!

Its going to take a bit to complete the different stages of this product. But hopefully by the summer time I’ll have this new product available.  Stay tuned to the SHIFT-IT e-Zine for announcements if you are interested.
