A Note From Christina

Rowdy Participants from May’s F.I.G. Training

Surrounded by learning lately — leading it for others and also going through my own.

We had a fantastic gathering for the Fundamentals of Interactive-Graphics (F.I.G.) training. Twenty fantastic people loaded up with new skills to work visually with groups and individuals (to join the hundreds I’ve trained over the years).

Eight of the FIG attendees are also part of a larger group of 38, who are my first cohort of Certified SHIFT-IT Coaches. They are in the midst of learning my trademarked SHIFT-IT Graphic Coaching Process® (with 17 visual tools) to be able to use with their own clients. Much learning occurs as they make their own SHIFTs and begin to guide others in how to do the same.

My First Painting: Can You Spot the SHIFT-IT Themes?!

While I’m holding the space for all this cool learning on the work front — I’m also learning personally with a few hobbies I’ve taken on. Last week I wrote about my golf lessons (and the challenges of putting!). This week I’m letting you in on my forays into painting (here’s my very first painting!).

For years I have felt the pull to paint – and I’ve finally acted on it by taking some classes at The Vancouver Island School of Art.

As my own F.I.G. and SHIFT-IT students can attest to … learning isn’t always easy. It can be uncomfortable, challenging and downright depressing … at least to begin with. So hence the topic for today’s article: “Top 10 Soothing Thoughts for Adult Learners”. How the only way to learn or master something is to go through your own step-by-step process with. There is wisdom and pleasure in the journey even if it has its hard points!
