A Note From Christina

Been settling into my new digs after moving. Can’t wait to get my new desk delivered. And you’ll be glad to know that blinds were finally installed on my higher windows (don’t know if the neighbors are mad or glad, hehe!).

Had an interesting breakthrough on the languaging of my work. For years I have been using the word ‘graphic’ in front of what I do (whether its facilitating, coaching or taking public notes). In large part that comes from my mentor David Sibbet of Grove Consultants … having learnt Group Graphics from the master.

Well, I’m following him in adapting. Seems the field is taking a language turn into the use of the word ‘visual’ instead of graphic. More understandable from the consumer’s point of view.

Soooooo, I have made the decision to reference my work as Visual Coaching instead of Graphic Coaching now.

Had a chat with David’s editor from Wiley and they are building out a fuller visual series of books, following the success of David’s Visual Meetings and new Visual Teams. Hope I will be doing Visual Coaching down the line (once they feel confident it can do 20,000 copies!).

Its so fascinating to witness and be part of the accelerated shift that is happening in the visual field … the last few years and months have hit warp speed with how things are expanding. To go along with the acceleration theme, I’ve decided to write this issue’s article on a controversial subject —- the whole brouhaha around 2012. Cause in my opinion the acceleration of the visual field is part and parcel of a larger acceleration that is going on — connected to the 2012 era we are already in!

Yours in visual expansion,

Christina Merkley
