GRADUATE SPOTLIGHT: JAN RICHARDS

A longtime business consultant and former National Baldridge Examiner, she’s a Grove Consultants aficionado (my former employer back in the heady dot-com days).

Jan knows the efficient practicality of ‘working visually’, having successfully used the Grove’s Strategic Visioning and team tools with senior leaders and change management teams in many industries – investment management, technology, biotech, telecom, higher ed and more.

She works with corporate folks in the thick of it. Leaders responsible for stewarding major change management, process improvement and teams in large organizations.

Her specialty is COOs and their direct reports, including those (privately) afraid of what they have been assigned, yet what they must do. She compassionately yet firmly helps people grow and get the job done, while remaining whole in the business world (a challenging feat).

In 2010, she came for her first SHIFT-IT Visual Coaching Retreat and returned in 2024 for Fundamentals of Visual Coaching and Visual Coach Certification.

“I’ve enjoyed interacting with Christina and her work over varied times in my career and life. First with the strategic business applications, and then for the deep personal territory that her work also covers.

I went through important life changes myself during her programs, including caregiving for, then the loss of my beloved husband, and the grief afterwards.

I learned how to help people meet the scary things in their own lives. Christina provides wonderful tools for handling the ‘no matter what happens’ stuff in life. Also, her tools provide both very efficient ways for helping notice what is really loved in one’s life, as well as how to work with the parts of ourselves that we aren’t so thrilled with.

Working visually helps me help my clients move the goals in their heads into their bodies and into their lives. It brings ‘visible clarity’ by making dreams more accessible, including by grounding them, and dissolving the ‘I can’t have that’ programming.

What a joy it is to help uncork people, to help them open to joy in their lives. One of my clients shifted right out of a depression. Another realized she had many more resources than she originally thought. Others toned down their molehills to get up their mountains.

And by the way, don’t work with me if you don’t actually want to get what you say you want! We will get you there.”
