This issue of the SHIFT-IT eZine I’m sharing some thoughts and resources on a REALLY BIG SHIFT — the shift of our civilization from Type 0 status to Type 1 status. A massive shift which isn’t easy or pretty but is essential if we are to survive as a species and keep our planet functioning.
Readers of my eZine and blog are typically external or internal Process Professionals of some type or other … consultants, facilitators, trainers, coaches, therapists, teachers, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications and the like.
Most of you do me the honor of following me because you are interested in the various skills I use and teach including Graphic Recording, Graphic Facilitation, Graphic Coaching and Energy Work. And are also curious about the unfolding process of my career to pick up things that may assist you on your own path.
My work and personal interests are increasingly being drawn to the ‘Bigger Picture’ lately … literally and figuratively. At considering the extremely pivotal crossroads that we are all live and work in.
As holders of group and individual processes it’s important that we recognize the larger context in which our clients and we are operating in.
In case you haven’t consciously noticed, we are literally at the transition between worlds … a scary, exciting and potentially expansion opportunity if we can successfully adapt.
The Kardashev Scale:
Developed in 1964 by astronomer Nikolai Kardashev, the Kardashev scale is a method of measuring a civilization’s level of technological advancement according to the nature of how it harnesses energy.
Type 1: Planetary Civilization (harness via solar, wind, wave/tide, volcanic)
Type 2: Stellar Civilization (harness power via home star)
Type 3: Galactic Civilization (harness power via entire galaxy)
Unfortunately, for a myriad of reasons (special interests mainly rather than tech inability) our civilization doesn’t even rate (we are a zero) due to our current infatuation of burning things depending on region (wood, coal, gas, oil, etc.). And nuclear options that generate long lasting toxic waste issues.
Below, is a quick video from theoretical physicist and futurist Michio Kaku, which does a nice job of defining the 3 stages further and the dilemma currently facing humanity (although I differ on his thoughts that anyone with objections to a global, planetary structure is a terrorist, OMG).

100 Years … Or, Are We Already Secretly More Advanced?
Kaku estimates, if we survive our tricky transition, that we’ll be Type 1 within 100 years … so our transition will be another century, give or take. If this is true, there will be plenty of work for Process Professionals during our life time … transitions are good for the process business (plenty for us to draw people out on).
However, there is great debate in some circles as to whether or not ‘we’ are actually more advanced than the majority of us realize. Or at least some of ‘us” are … that there exists a “breakaway Type 2 split-off civilization” that has already left the rest of us in its dust.
If this scenario is true, there is going to be plenty of work for Process Professionals who are already ahead of the curve or who can adapt quickly … to assist others in wrapping their heads and hearts around these challenging realities when and if they are disclosed. Also work in the ‘mother of all Truth and Reconciliation Tribunals’ as the truth of what those-in-deep-power have been up to for good, bad and ugly.
Now, I know this is going to be a stretch for some of my readers, and I totally honor your perspectives and belief systems. I’m still not completely sold myself whether these breakaway civilization theories are true of not … but it sure does have my attention and contemplation for the sheer magnitude of what it could mean to the context that we all operate in, if only a fraction is true. It will change life as we know it … and fast. So it behooves you as a Process Professional to be aware of these theories, just like in Scenario Planning, so you can be more nimble when an indicator shows which way the wind is blowing in the future.

3. The third in our viewing line up, is the fascinating 90+ year old character of William Tompkins. Mr. Tompkins had an illustrious, respected career with the top aerospace companies in the 50s, 60s and 70s. He gives the earlier foundational story of the SSPs before Corey Goode’s era in the 80s. He’s interviewed by the infamous Kerry Cassidy of Project Camelot (this is part 1, you can find part 2 on Youtube).

Whichever way you fall on these subjects its interesting times we live in for sure! A perfect time to be a Process Professional to assist the groups and individuals that you feel called to work with … on the issues, problems and solutions you want to be a part of. I salute you on getting out there and helping solve your piece of the puzzle in our rapidly evolving world … it’s all hands on deck!
